JOB SUMMARY
The legal counsel is responsible for managing the legal function of the respective TAWAL Croatia and Slovenia entities and work closely with the Europe Legal Head of TAWAL. The Legal counsel will spearhead TAWAL’s country legal strategy, and will ensure regulatory compliance, safeguard contractual interests, and manage risks.

MAIN ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Ensure compliance with country specific regulations and procedures, while aligning with TAWAL’s legal strategy
- Liaise with the Europe Legal Head to provide regular updates, seek guidance, and contribute to the overall TAWAL HQ legal strategy and ensure alignment and adherence to group policies and procedures
- Provide legal advice and recommendations to support all TAWAL functions for the country and executive management in decision-making
- Represent TAWAL in all matters related to legal government affairs, and provide support as required in investigations
- Review and draft country contracts as per the country Authority Matrix, ensuring accuracy, legal compliance, and risk mitigation, e.g., site lease templates, employment contract templates and other contracts
- Interact with external legal counsel, government authorities, and regulatory bodies where applicable to ensure compliance with the country and European regulatory requirements (e.g., GDPR)
- Stay updated on regulation changes and industry trends that may impact TAWAL's operations in the country
- Support with other required activities as required by TAWAL HQ such as financial reporting, corporate governance, etc.
- Attend to other tasks and responsibilities requested by the superior
MANAGERIAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Oversee the performance of line management to ensure TAWAL's strategy and objectives are applied and met
- Keep abreast of discipline best practice and drive implementing it in TAWAL
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Minimum Qualifications:- Master’s degree in Law is preferred
- Advanced degree (LLM or equivalent) is preferred
- Qualified lawyer in the country and knowledge of EU law
Minimum Experience:
- Minimum 3-4 years of experience focused on corporate / commercial law / property law and familiarity with country and European legal frameworks (e.g., contract law, corporate governance, and regulatory compliance)
Functional Expertise (Knowledge, Skills & Abilities):
- Strong knowledge of local legal systems and regulations
- High competency in drafting, reviewing, and negotiating commercial contracts and agreements
- Detail-orientation and high level of diligence in legal documentation
- Ability to work autonomously and handle legal matters independently
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and conceptual thinking skills
- Excellent negotiation and strong communication skills with the capability to present complex information clearly
- Experience of working with senior management and board members
- Fluent in written and spoken English, with previous experience where language skills are used to communicate with international leadership teams
